His super yacht, "The Launchpad", was reportedly closer to the vessel in distress than the ship that ultimately came to its aid, yet seemed to be in no hurry to assist.
According to Michael Love, a passenger on the Wilderness Legacy cruise ship, the captain announced that The Launchpad was indeed closer but repeatedly refused to respond when called upon for aid.
