With over 58% of votes secured, the party is poised to win a record supermajority in the State Duma, giving Putin an even tighter grip on power. This election was hardly free or fair, however.
Opposition parties were barred from participating, and international observers were kept at bay by Moscow's refusal to invite the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
