Sophie Adenot becomes first French female astronaut in space

The Weight of Legacy: Sophie Adenot's Historic Spacewalk and the Future of French Cosmonauts Sophie Adenot's six and a half hour spacewalk on the International Space Station was a momentous occasion for France, marking not only her own historic achievement but also the culmination of years of training and hard work by the French space program.

Accompanied by American colleague Anil Menon, Adenot successfully completed the mission to replace an antenna crucial for high speed communications between the ISS and Houston's mission control.

Adenot's feat is significant because she is the first French female astronaut to venture outside the ISS, breaking a barrier that was previously unimaginable to many young women in France.
